journey to the north Day-1 Part-2 Jaw Bum and Karienaw

the Jaw Langchyi on Jaw Bum

dear all

during our return from the MyitHsone

we saw again the road side cleared areas meant for relocating the villages that will be submerged

I feel sad thinking about the would be refugees

who will have to live in new surroundings

trying to find a new way to make a livelihood

on our way back to Myitkyina

I looked for U Soe Win (Shwebo Tharr) at the waterways maintenance compound and  building about midway back

I had heard that he is in Myitkyina working with Asia World in the MyitHsone Dam project, water way maintenance (YayKyaung HteinTheinYay) department

It housed only the expatriates

the locals stay in Myitkyina

when we get back to Myitkyina, we dropped in at the Asia World quarters in Myitkyina

but was told that the YayKyaung HteinTheinYay group stays in a hotel near the jetty

I did not have time to go there and missed U Soe Win

with whom it would have been a nice reunion

(but met Pyae Sone later in Monywa later on Day-6)

The Jaw Bum

we visited the Jaw Bum, on our return

it was a centennial celebrations grounds (I do not remember what they celebrated for)

and the high rise building on top of the hill built later

is now a sightseeing must for all those visiting Myitkyina

and a favorite spot for locals as well

as it is at the outskirts of Myitkyina

the views from the top of the building is superb

worth the air ticket cost

and you will see them in photos I have attached

you can is even see the Bala MinHtin bridge

in the distance

which is situated near the northern edge of Myitkyina

KaReinNaw

we reached KaReinNaw at dusk

and the light is not good

it is on the outskirts of Myitkyina

nearer than the Jaw Bum

and a favourite recreation site for Myitkyina residents

and a tour site for visitors

it is on the AyeYarWaddy

and will be more beautiful when seen in good light

we saw a boat going down river

and I took photos in various zoom levels

the last view of the Kareinnaw

we departed from Kareinnaw without wanting to go

yet it is near nighttime

as we are in the Cold season

north of the “Ottara Yin Soon Tan” /

in the temperate Myanmar

which is far different from the tropical Myanmar where I live

a different country

different ethnic people

yet brothers and sisters

staying in a fragile peace

which none dares to break
