In the footsteps of Buddha: the 4th of the first 7 places

the 4th Place of the First 7 Places (after Enlightenment)

This roofless brick building, northwest to the MahaBhodi Mahavihara, with Buddha images inside is the place Buddha spent the 4th week after Enlightenment, in meditation, reflecting on the Patthana or the Casual Law.

It is 14 x 11 ft and faces the north and there is a marker post nearby.

Ratanghar (Ratnagrih)
Location: Before Mahabodhi Temple, near the entrance in Mahabodhi Temple Complex in Bodh Gaya.
Importance: Lord Buddha spent the ‘4th Week’ at this place after his enlightenment. During meditation, a holy light of five colors spread in the whole atmosphere which came from Buddha’s body. These colors now reflect on Buddhist Holy Flag also. In the memory of this divine state, we now see a statue of Lord Buddha in meditation posture at this open place.

How awesome that you got the chance to see the ceremony of Enlightenment. Pretty good…
