Ajapala Nigrodha Tree (Banyan)

Lord Buddha spent the 5th week under this tree in meditation after Enlightenment. Here, He replied to a Brahmana that only by one’s deeds one becomes a Brahmana, not by birth.

Prince Siddhatha / TheikDatTha of Kapilavastu was brought up in a culture where people were discriminated according to the caste system where people born of a caste has its limitations regarding occupation and social status. Buddha was a democrat and a social activist, disapproving the caste system and preached that we all reap what each we sowed (what one did); Kan Kan Ei. Ah Kyoe, and “that only by one’s deeds one becomes a Brahmana, not by birth”.

You get to Nirvana by your own efforts, of course, followng Buddha’s teachings. Not by worshipping Buddha.
